For 15 years, Gael Mooney has painted the interior of the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the traditional burial place of French monarchs, seeking to capture its myriad, elusive effects of light and space. This past year she also spent several months in the Provence, painting the Chateau Noir and other scenes that inspired Cézanne over a century ago.
