Every year The Bowery Gallery Annual Juried Competition is open to all applicants working in two-dimensional media. Past jurors have included prominent artists such as William Bailey, Rackstraw Downes, Paul Resika and Joan Snyder, and eminent critics like Jed Perl, David Cohen, and Stephan Westfall. Kyle Staver, Juror
Kyle Staver received her MFA in painting from Yale School of Art, and has exhibited throughout the United States. She has been a recipient of the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship (2015) and the American Academy of Arts and Letters Purchase Prize (2015). Her work has been exhibited at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects, and the American Academy of Arts & Letters. She currently exhibits at Kent Fine Art in New York, and lives in Brooklyn..
ELIGIBILITY Eligible two-dimensional media include painting, drawing, printmaking and mixed media, not to exceed 36" in height or width, including frame. Sculpture, photography and digital art not eligible. Work must be suitably framed. Glazing on all shipped work must be Plexiglass. Bowery Gallery accepts applications from outside the U.S.
SALES All work will be for sale unless artist states otherwise. All proceeds will go to the artist.
FEES A $35.00 entry fee allows each artist to submit 1-3 images. A $6.00 fee is required for each additional image. A maximum of 6 images may be submitted. Entry fees must be paid to Bowery Gallery through the entry form's Paypal link, which accepts credit cards. Fees are nonrefundable. While there are no handling fees, artists are responsible for all shipping costs.
SUBMISSION Images must be JPGs with minimum width/height of 500px, maximum size 3MB. Please do not use spaces or special characters such as !”/)(:#;&$ in image file names. Embedded color profile recommended for most accurate color. Be sure to upload all images before paying. Bowery Gallery reserves the right to reject inaccurately represented work.
DEADLINE Submissions must be received by midnight, April 20, 2017. The gallery will make every effort to notify applicants of acceptance by June 1.
